Has anyone else noticed just how badly women are being treated lately? In the past 5 years it seems as though we have been pushed back, pushed down, down played, and rated as second class citizens. The fight that our Great Grandmothers undertook has come back. We need to stand up against this. Even you men out there can stand up to the ones doing this. Voice your support, show your support!
Today I wrote to Lego about their sexism. My daughters love Ninjago and want clothing with the characters on it. So I have been online for an hour looking. EVERYTHING says boys. Nothing for a girl? Girls like fight sports too. In the letter I also warned not to insult us (women) and make just a shirt with Nya (the girl character on the show).
My husband and I didn't even think of Legos as a boy thing until last year when they released Lego Girls. Pink and Purple blocks that make a doll house and mall I believe. Yep thats what all girls want. Do they not realize the money they are losing due to this mentality. If nothing else than the fact that women are the driving force behind sales.
Then there is the fun of not covering womens health needs on insurance plans. This isn't just about the birth control. When I had Katherine 6 years ago I paid 60 or the 80 dollars for prenatal vitamins. Why? Because they are considered as an option.
Or the people not pissed about birth control. The people that believe only girls who are easy want it. What is it costing these people? Don't we the families pay the insurance to "cover" us? (I think insurance is laughable). Plus what about women like myself that are married? Am I a slut because I would want to get birth control? Should I just keep popping out babies so you can complain about that too? Or what about if birth control is taken away and these women get abortions? Oh yeah, they will be jumped on for that too. Where in the world did the Government or even the people of this nation get the idea that they could tell a woman what they can and can not do?
Then there is the issue with women fighting on the front line. Don't we need people to sign up? Isn't that a good and noble thing? It is when men do it. How about that when these women are raped that it is somehow their fault? This disgusting idea needs to be stopped! Even more shocking are the women out their cosigning these insane ideas. Where is their outrage? Why are people not fighting back?
I fear for my children but I also believe this is why God gave me daughters. Not to sound arrogant but I am a strong woman that will make sure they know their worth. I will back them up and teach them to have a back bone. I will help them find mates that will see their worth and also stand next to them.
Please, help teach your children. Stand up and fight back against these injustices because after they take away womens rights, who will they attack next?

My baby is growing up
Yep another post about how my girls are growing. I am sorry guys but thats what happens when you are a parent.
My Katherine has her first loose tooth. I remember at her last cleaning feeling the start of tears when they said her teeth were spacing to prepare for this. I knew it was coming and even that it would be her bottom tooth within the 6 months between visits. None of that makes it easier.
It's hard to let go of her baby-ness. Her baby teeth are the last baby thing she has. She is incredible tall already, her face is thinning out, and her hands are losing the cute puffy baby shape. She doesn't need my help so much anymore and the shows she wants to watch have lost the cuteness of what we once watched.
So please forgive me for another post of weepy mommy-ness. Though I am sure there will be more to come. Motherhood is hard for many reasons and this is one of them.

Kirk Cameron
As I am sure you heard Mr Cameron is being focused on this week due to something he said. In an interview on Piers Morgan he was asked about his views on homosexuality. Kirk is a very strict Christian and said he believes it to be unnatural etc.
Of course people have jumped on him and even have pages wishing he'd kill himself on Facebook. All because he stated his opinion. Now does it sound harsh what he said? Yeah sort of but nothing we haven't heard before. Again due to his faith he just stated what he believes.
He explained why he was against gay marriage in the best way he could. I watched and do not believe he was trying to be mean. He was just standing up for his belief. He even has a marriage conference he hosts so he has a definite idea of what marriage is "supposed to be".
Unlike when politicians say things like what Kirk said I was not offended, rolled my eyes, etc. Why? Because unlike most of the men in Congress that make these type statements, he isn't doing it to win votes. He also is not then running out and having affairs etc. In fact, in the movie Fireproof at the end we see him and his wife kiss. The reason we see shadowy figures of the actors is not for some great cinematic effect, it's because he said that when he married his wife he entered into an agreement with God and her. So the woman he is kissing is indeed his real wife and not the actress from the movie.
Before anyone thinks this is me just defending hate it isn't. I do not believe we have a right to decide for someone else. I do not believe we have the right to restrict rights to people who are not really doing anything to hurt another. Yes, I believe in the Bible and Book of Mormon, however when reading the scriptures what stands out to me is that everyone is to have free agency. They must choose. For me to outlaw the option I am stopping their agency. The church even says to hate the sin not the person. You are to treat them no different than you would any other member.
What I am saying is here was a man that practices what he preaches and we should respect his opinion. Even one of my gay friends posted today that Kirk Cameron has the right to say what he would like and we need to respect it.

You Learn Something Everyday
This morning I learned that the "Mormon Jesus" is not the same as the "Christian Jesus". Hmmm, interesting.
I was not aware that there were two different ones to begin with. Heck, I didn't even know King James was Mormon as the church had not been restored at his time. That's the Bible we use.
Does this "Christian Jesus" not heal people? Walk on water? Sacrifice himself for the sins of man?
Wait. Maybe it makes sense. See our Christ teaches love. That love is the greatest of all commandments. These same "Christians" that tell me we have two different Jesus' like to preach hate and fear.
Well, thanks for clearing that up. I think I will stick to my loving, forgiving, all amazing Jesus.

Women's History Month
Every year I make sure to mention and participate in Womens History Month. I do it for several reasons.
One, I am a woman. The struggles women in history had to go through, I feel it's disrespectful to recognize them. The stories of the women that set out to "earn" the right to vote are amazing. I don't want to take it for granted. (Another reason I cringe when women don't go out to vote).
Two, I have daughters. In fact I have often said I think God gave me daughters for a reason. I am sure to tell them their worth. In a nation that is forgetful of the contributions of women I will not forget. In a time that the body is the focus of women I can share the stories of the power of women minds.
Three, women seem forgotten in history classes. If they weren't why would there be a need for womens history month? Seriously, think back and remember how many women were talked about/ studied in your school. I can name about half a dozen. Now are we to believe that only half a dozen women ever had something significant to contribute? As a result I am sad to announce most Women don't know there is a Women's History Month much less when it is. Schools still don't seem to even focus on it.
Things need to change, thoughts need to change. Remember the saying, "Lest we forget"?
